Message from the Principal, Resource Services and Short Term Placements

Welcome to the W. Ross Macdonald Resource Services segment of our website. The Resource Services Department serves students who are blind, have low vision or are deafblind and are served in Board settings across the province.

All of our consultants are specialists in their field. They are dedicated to serving the students across the province. A number of the services we provide include:

Blind/Low Vision Resource

  • Consultative visits to classrooms for school aged learners.
  • Various assessments – Orientation and Mobility, Learning Media, Assistive Devices, Functional Vision.
  • Workshops for educators, parents and community partners.
  • Support for children entering JK or SK in terms of a transition report and/or a pre-braille assessment.

Deafblind Resource

  • Regularly scheduled visits for deafblind children – from infancy to age 21.
  • Functional assessments for deafblindness.
  • Consultative visits.
  • Support for the various transitions throughout the students school life.
  • Workshops for intervenors, parents and community partners.
