| Youth Canada Tournament for the Deaf
The 11th Youth Canada Tournament for the DeafMay 9 - 13, 2010Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf will host the 11th Youth Canada Tournament for the Deaf (YCTD) on May 9 to 13, 2010. Schools for the Deaf from British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario will participate in this special event. We will be expecting 150 students and staff /chaperones to attend. Each school will have 12 youth participants. YCTD is a huge celebration of learning, sharing, and having fun, which includes a variety of competition areas, such as Culture (Literature, Recreation, Performing Arts, and Video essay), Sports (Volleyball, Badminton, and Ping Pong), Literacy Olympics (Deaf trivia, Math/Science challenge), and Team building (team challenge, cardboard boat race). Guests are welcome to attend only the Drama Night on Wednesday May 13, 2010, from 6pm to 10pm. It will be held at the auditorium in the Centennial Secondary School at 160 Palmer Road, Belleville, Ontario. Ample parking is available at Centennial Secondary School. There is no admission fee to this event. If you are interested in volunteering during the YCTD, please contact Ms. Cathy Chesher at the school office at the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf. All volunteers must complete an application form and provide a CRC/VSS.
