PAWS - Elementary Program

Our elementary students are recognized daily on Wolf TV - our morning announcements: a paw is drawn from the elementary PAWS box, and the winning student is called to the broadcast room. Once the student arrives, he or she announces to the TV audience the characteristic he or she demonstrated (W, O, L, V, or E), and the description the teacher has provided of his or her behaviour. The winning student is then taken to the PAWS prize box to choose his or her reward.

The students’ paws are placed on a bulletin board in the school cafeteria, where they can track their progress. Once each column is filled, the students have earned a group reward for the entire elementary school. Past group rewards have included a movie afternoon complete with healthy snacks, and an afternoon in the pool with free swimming and games.

PAWS is now integrated into our long-standing Kiwanis Terrific Kids program. Each month at our Terrific Kids assemblies, we highlight one of the ten Provincial Schools Branch character education attributes with a student-produced performance; that trait becomes our focus for the month.
