Specialized Reading and Writing Programs

Many students with learning disabilities have particular difficulty with print. The Amethyst School uses a variety of techniques to improve literacy skills. Each student's program is tailored to their learning needs and strengths. Students learn what is helpful and what they need to succeed in reading and writing tasks. Our students often realize significant gains in literacy skills during their stay at Amethyst.

Technology is used to assist students with reading and writing difficulties in content areas. Students learn to use computer programs such as speech-to-text, text-to-speech, spell checkers, word processors, graphic organizers, screen readers and word prediction.
